Documenting a Partscaster Idea
Seeing all the threads about mysterious pawn shop and eBay guitars not only causing confusion, but money and grief in some cases, I just came up with a simple idea
I've put my favorite chunky CII Squier '51 neck on my beloved CIC CV 50's, so now the only serial number is the one on the back of the Squier '51 headstock. Further confusing the matter is that several years ago I put a fake Fender decal on the neck. I absolutely love the combo of CV body/A-3 pups and S-51 neck (2 great budget classics) and plan to keep the guitar forever, but in the event that something suddenly happens to me, and it ends up in the hands of one of my younger relatives (or anyone) who's not aware that I've tinkered with it, I've decided to add a label inside the neck pup cavity with the CV's serial number, description of the neck, and stating that the Fender decal in non-authentic. This way they won't get in trouble, and won't have to try to guess WTF they have JFYI: ![]()

Thanks mellecaster, I feel better about it now. It's been bugging me since I put the decal on, and now that I compounded the "crime" by swapping necks, I've at least prevented my nieces or nephews from getting grief over it.
