What does "FMT" mean?

I'm looking at a Tele that the seller says is an Esquire. I believe he is wrong. From what I can tell it is an "FMT." It has a countoured top, neck through, dual humbuckers with coil tap.

That's all sort of irrelevant. What I'm trying to figure out is what does "FMT" mean/stand for/ indicate?

Thanks folks!

Edit: Tried a search for FMT here and got no results!

Flame Maple Top. QMT means Quilted Maple Top

Aha! Thanks (quick!). So this guitar is a gold top. I'm thinking I'm wrong then as they probably wouldn't make a flame top then paint it eh?

FMT does stand for flame maple top, but it can be misleading, as my Telecaster FMT actually had a spalted maple top, and was officially named "Telecaster FMT Spalted Maple"...which of course means flame maple top spalted maple, which makes no sense.

This is my old guitar, see, no flame maple, but that's what they called it. Certainly not an Esquire, though.

So, is Fender time a shuffle, or is it 2/4?

That actually is flame maple along with spalted. See the lines going from side to side? Flame.

I didn't even notice that. Mine had almost none of that.

Esquires only have a bridge pup, no humbuckers.
