I did a mod to my 60 Start with a set of dual 3-Way switches allowing for the traditional neck and bridge arrangement sending the output of the first 3-Way switch to the second 3-Way that selects between the bridge/neck combo with the middle pickup. The additions to the traditional 5-Way Strat combo are neck & bridge (without a middle pickup) and all 3 pickups together.

I can see performing a mod of this nature to a 3 pickup Tele by drilling a hole between the volume and tone pot and installing a 3-way mini toggle.

If the middle sounds thin weak and nasal one of the pickups wires needs to be reversed.
