Esquire - 2 pickup, truss rod neck?

Ok...I've been reading up on my Telecaster history and it appears that there was never any such thing as a two-pickup Esquire with a neck that had a truss rod. From what I've read, it seems that all the two-pickup Esquires were made before Fender put a truss rod in the neck and after the truss rod was added, the one pickup model was the Esquire and the two pickup version was the Telecaster.

Is that correct?

Jim

Partially correct ...............

Don't forget the Broadcaster and "Nocaster" versions that preceded the Telecaster.

Yes, you are right. When they came out, the Esquire was relegated to one pickup status, right?

Isnt there a picture in the tele bible of a two pickup truss roded neck esquire? It might be on the first page of the colr photo's? If I remeber it looks bone stock and not that someone added the front pickup later. Clay
