Studio

I haven't done any recording since the '70s but if memory serves me, super thin strings had the same problem as new strings - you'd better get it right the first time. If not, you guitar would take on such different tonal characteristics that patched in corrections sounded just like that...patched in corrections. You simply had to record your entire track again or the track would sound like hammered death.

I use 11s on my Tele, 15s on my ES350. No trouble bending, but I see a lot of guys using their fingers to bend. I've always rotated my wrist. Maybe if I bent strings with my fingers a lighter gauge sting would make more sense.

That having been said, play what works for you. If it works for you, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

my 2 cents

Tone, IMO comes form dues paying.
Time on the fretboard instead of
analyzing everyone or everything
else. Don't take this the wrong way
but "Shut up and play your Guitar".
