Roll Call: Fender 1998 Collector's Edition Tele Owners
There were, of course, only 1,998 of these made, and I'm guessing that more than a few are owned by TDPRIers.
If I'm not mistaken, I think Johnny Hiland owns one .... I am the proud owner of #418. It's currently my "number one" for gigging. Cheers, BK |

Number 0202, checking in. The CE was my very first Tele, and would be the last to leave my stable. Best regular production tele I've come across for my taste and needs, and its a beauty too!

Hey Bruce....
where did you snag that one? I recall seeing a used one hang in Mother's on 17th when the store was still located there a year or five ago. I played it and really liked it.

Cam .....
I bought it from my friend Brad Lindberg. He had owned it for quite a while, and then he lent it to me for about a year. I loved it, he didn't miss having it around (he's a Strat guy) ... and the rest is history ...
:-) Cheers, BK |

Just curious, are there other people who found the RI52 sounding quite different compared to the 98CE? To me the 98CE sounded more open and vibrant, plugged and unplugged, sort of like the tone knob was more open. Im interested because most sources of info claim this to be almost an exact copy of the RI52 except for the neck.
Some people have said it comes with Standard USA pickups, others said even custom shop. |

I used to own number 188 back in 99. I traded it for a Fullerton built Strat 62RI. Sure wish I had the Tele back! Actually, come to think of it, I still have the case candy for that guitar somewhere.
