Dave Dudley's "Last Day In the Mines" - Who played
I JUST finished listening to it on the car radio, and bolted in here to ask y'all. Just WHO is that on guitar? Is it a Tele? Sounds very Tele-ish. Lots of spitty reverb everywhere. Very cool!
Anyone know???

That is a great song...
I'm at work right now but will stop off at my Dad's after work and check back of the LP.

The guitar players are:
Roy Penny: "Shotgun guitar"
Mickey McGivren: Rythm guitar Bunty Petrie: Guitar I didn't actually look at the album. I called my dad to look it up. He picked these names out of the liner notes.

Roy Penny
Boy its been a while since I've heard that name. I spent many a Saturday at the Horseshoe Tavern matinee watching Roy. He used a Gibson ES335 and a Fender Bandmaster back then. At that time (mid to late '60's) he was probably Canada's best C&W guitarist.
Anyone know what he's doing now? Doug. |
