Does anyone use the Hipshot trilogy bridge on their Tele?

Because I am an eternal tinkerer and enjoy open tunings I ordered one (and they aren't cheap unfortunately) and have installed it on my MIJ 50's RI.
It allows you via a lever for each string to access a variety of pre-set tunings reasonably quickly. I say reasonably because once the levers are flipped it is still necessary to fine tune to "dial in" the desired tuning, no matter the stoutness of the neck or how much graphite is in the nut. I have found the unit to be a bit difficult in a few ways. String intonation and height adjustment are two, as you are forced to loosen the string before making these adjustments. Also, the adjustment pole pieces are of a uniform tall size, not following any radius, so palm muting is uncomfortable. I'm going to purchase a staggered set (I suspect the pole pieces from a strat bridge will work) to make the bridge more comfortable. All in all I feel the unit is a little cludgey, and am a bit dissappointed at its shortcomings for the $. Anybody use one of these gizmos with any success? -B

The band I play with opened up for Radney Foster a couple of weeks ago, and his guitar player, Mike McAdams, used the trilogy on a strat. I asked him about it and he has the same fine tuning problems you do, but it gets him in the ballpark much faster than retuning the old fashioned way. As far as intonation goes, he used the strat mostly for slide playing. If Radney and his band ever play near you, I highly recommend checking them out; great songs, great band.

I'm interested in doing this as well. The lack of additional comments suggests to me that the Trilogy isn't too popular.

I play in Open G and Standard mostly, and have been dabbling in open D as well. I'm really tired of bringing multiple guitars to gigs for various tunings. It would be great if the Trilogy worked well. Other than that, my options seem to be stick to one tuning, get a VG strat or a Gibson Robot guitar.
