Rich Gilbert fans

Had a nice surprise last night, went to see the Wheelers & Dealers (local honky-tonk band) and he was sitting in on guitar. Playing some bad-a** tele!

I'm such an internet geek, I told him I couldn't wait to post about the siting. He was pleased to find out that you Frank Black fans occaisionally talked about him on this board. Unfortunately for us Boston fans he told me he's moving; one of the "legends" around here, and just such a nice guy. And of course a blast to see him play, yowsa!

hey, did he mention anything about the status of FB & the Catholics?

Its great that the Pixies reunion has been so successfull (they deserve the success) but I love FB & the Cs and I fear they may be a thing of the past.

Did you talk guitars with him? I think he usually played guitars with humbuckers while playing with FB (who always only plays telecasters) but I think he sometimes whipped out a tele. Did he say anything about the teles they use? Frank seems to have aquired a bunch of vintage teles since he had a few stolen a couple years ago.

Rich Gilbert Tele trivia

I actually sold Rich his Tele, a killer '68 in blonde/maple, about 6 years ago. It's one of his favorite guitars and I've seen him with it a lot. Nice medium/light weight and one of those great, big '68 necks. Just saw it a couple of months ago; he's currently running Bardens in it.

That was one of those guitars I should've kept but then again he's making better use of it than I ever did :D

Yeah, that was the tele he was playing, nice looking guitar. I didn't ask about the Frank Black thing.
