Electra Tele Copies

Hi!

I'm new to the forum although I've been lurking for several months. Great info.

I have a Electra Telecaster copy I purchased back in 1973. It has a humbucker in the neck and a single coil in the bridge, maple neck, maple fretboard, and top loading strings. Anyone else on the forum run into or own (or owned) one of these? The original name of the guitar was a "Rock and Soul" later renamed to "Rock and Blues."

Thanks!

I had a friend who had an Electra Tele-style

It was dark, translucent brown (you could see the wood grain) with a black three-ply pickguard and a maple neck, and it had a humbucker at the neck and a single coil at the bridge. This was many years ago, but as I recall, it was a really nice guitar--it sounded great, was very comfortable to play, and it looked very cool.

I saw one of those on Ebay a while back, man I wanted it bad, but it wasn't in the stars at the time.

Very cool looking tele copy.

Check out this web site

This link is to an Electra guitar info site.

I own a Rock 'N' Soul (2253w model)
If you scroll down the list of models on the left frame, there are 6 'tele type' models you can click on. Pics of my 2253w model guitar are at the bottom of that page. Enjoy!

There's a thinline-style in a shop here in town that's stripped of pickguard and pickups. Also, it looks like someone did a modification to get rid of a zero-fret. Does yours have the zero-fret?

The guitar I'm talking about looks like the Blues Rock Special 2270C on the page mentioned previously in this thread.

I have the 2238WC (black). I don't think it has the zero fret.

I've thought about upgrading the pickups and electronics on it but the bridge is not a true tele bridge so it would take some conversion work. It's fun to play anyway and has a tight sound especially with a little overdrive. I own a squier standard strat, too but the electra is the one I pick up to play. Good intonation all the way up the neck. Flater radius on the neck than the strat so my first finger doesn't hurt in the joint after playing.

As a youngster my first 'leccy guitar around 1970 was a Electra Les Paul. I didn't know jack then and thought it was a cheapy. Looking back, it had a set neck and played not bad, and I am sure it was an Ibanez, a '58 Standard copy, which were sold under many names back then. I screwed the headstock up fitting Schallers to it, and traded it for a '73 Mustang I think.

hey this is my first post on this awesome site for awesome guitars. I own three Telecasters, and one is an Electra "Rock and Soul" i just finished it a few months ago, and it is screamin'. I installed a GFS Hot Nashville Overwound in the neck position, the lead pickup is a GFS Lil' Puncher Modern Vintage. I really like this guitar. I think it looks awesome in the transparent brown, even thought the girlfriend disagrees.

Here's a link to a timeline and history of Electra guitars. I owned an Electra LP copy bought new in '75. Wish I had it back!
