I just joined the Tele club, too...

I also did what the other guy did...went to my local GC for their so-called "List" sale. They had two MIM '72 Tele Customs (black, maple neck) listed for $399. One had been sold already, and the other one had a 1/4" sizeddown-to-the-wood chip in the paint on the upper left horn. I had decided upon a Custom before, and hadn't found them for much below $550-$575 both offline and online. $399 would have been perfect for a perfect guitar, but not for a "scratch and dent" model. Since I don't gig anywhere and use it only for home recording purposes, I spent a very long and painful negotiating process and got them to sell it to me for $300, as new with warranty and 30-day return. No gig bag, through, which ain't such a big deal.

Congrats, by my (often wrong) reckoning that's lesss than 200 UK pounds which is an utter bargain. I've seen Squiers for more here.

Hope it's a good axe, they are very fashionable over here as I can think of a large number of the latest bands that use them and other 70s repros (although they probably have vintage versions not the MIMs).

Let [us know how it sounds

Congrats

I tried one of those a couple of years ago and was fairly impressed by the sound...

Hope you enjoy it...

Congratulations

raisindot,

Congratulations....I'm the "other" new member of the club. My 50's Classic also did not come with the gig bag, but it was in perfect condition. I asked about the bag, but they wouldn't budge (still a tremendous deal at $399). They didn't have any 72's at my location, so I didn't have to decide which one to go with...made my decision easy. Those 72's have a lot of mojo.
