It's a great video. It is what really turned me on to that artist series model. I was lucky enough to get to buy one during those crazy Fender-Friday sales at MF last year for less than $1000, delivered, brand new.The neck may not suit many people, but I love it.

That is one of a few YouTube clips that people discover every six months or so and post here. I like it when that happens: people such as LeDocteur finding something that cool and pleases them and they want to share what they've found. We could do with more amiable enthusiasm in other parts of life.

As for the GE Smith guitar, it's an excellent guitar. We have an Owners' Club thread on that model with some intresting information about that model.

Never knew much about him, other than he was on SNL for quite a while. Interesting to get a little bio straight from the horses mouth, so to speak. Nice collection he's got there.

Hey! I bought one and some guy was willing to pay almost $1,600 for it!

If you get a chance check out the GE Smith feature/documentary, 50-Watt Fuse. The DVD is directed by Taylor Barton, GE's wife, and has interviews, performance clips, and a nice concert of GE and David Lindley. Good stuff. It should be available through Netflix if you have a subscription.

That's the video that inspired me to get a Tele... I really identify with what he's talking about in that video, not to mention the fact that he's an AMAZING player.

I love when he says he rode that tele all over the world.

Greatest love song to a tele I've ever seen.

Plus he seems like a very cool and humble fellow.

It's my favorite, by far, of all my Telecasters.

I had one and sold it. Good guitar--just never liked it as well as my AVRI 52.

There's a Dakota Red one at a music store near me:

I dig the funky lap steel fret markers, but mainly the deep "U" neck contour. I wish the fretboard were wider - it's a narrow nut.
