My Yamaha Mike Stern Sig. got Micawber'ed!

Just thought I would share this little upgrade.

I really like this guitar except for two things: The Hot Rail in the bridge and the bridge itself.

So after reading about Rare Breed Guitars on this very forum I went ahead and ordered one.

The bridge was installed along with a very nice BD-caster pickup from Peter Florance.

It is a very expensive bridge but it sounds amazing. Just such a spanky tone that really rocks!

Hope you like it!

I also changed out the bridge on mine as soon as I got it---really junk compared to the rest of the guitar. I put on a Barden bridge with compensated saddles. I never minded the hotrail p/u.
The guitar is now with my nephew who aspires to become a professional guitar player...

Thanks for the comments. The amp is a modified Tweed Deluxe with a Weber 1265 ceramic made by Danish amp builder Lars Reinau. It plays clean up to around 10 and sounds amazing. ;)
I am really impressed with this Micawber bridge from Rare Breed Guitars. The craftmanship is exceptional. When my Thinline partscaster dreams become reality I might order another one....

I dislike gold hardware but Yamaha guitars are often overlooked and I wouldn't mind owning the Mike Stern model. Nice guitar!

Hmm, made me Google. Is that the 1511 or 311 MS model?

PJ, from this link, it's not gold (plate), it's solid brass. Only in the UK, it seems - £150! Sure looks nice though.

It is the 1511 and yes, the bridge is solid brass! But as you point out, not cheap.... ;)

Cal Beach Hot Rod Rare Breed Edition :-)

Must confess, I've done some money with these 'Rare Breed' guys lately; got a little carried away, but stunning results - my much modded 'Deekscaster' got the solid brass bridge, which combines with the Lollar 'Christian' p/up to sound really rich and 'chimey', and I know use this all the time when singing, and my blond thinline got the compensated saddles, which transform the detail of the sound, (it rings like a glockenspiel), and has infinitely more sustain. What's astonishing to me was the poor quality of the 'standard' Custom Shop saddles - pig metal or what? To be fair, (as always), I had the guys at Mansons UK fit the kit, their workmanship is the best in the business. Oh, and I am ashamed to admit, (-to my wife!), that I succumbed to a set of 'Rare Breed' heavy-knurled control knobs for each guitar. My excuse is that they would be easier to operate if I found myself wearing ex-WW2 sheepskin flying mitts on stage - it's a lame excuse I know, but it's the best I could come up with at short notice...
