Help... purchase now or save for a better one?

Hello guys, I am new here, a college boy from China.

I got my first tele last year, a squier standard 032-1200, and I got addicted in tele horrible. (and I found tdpri here)

These days I read a lot about squier classic vibe. It seems so remarkable. I like the vintage style so much. I watched some video clip and now I am considering if it is worth owning one.

However some of my friends also suggests me to save more money for a real Fender, MIM or an American.

I am really hesitating now. For some reasons that I am in college now. I have no income at all. The only way to get money is saving from my diet (by the way, my family have a good income, but I really don't want to ask for extra money to by a guitar). Now I have saved 3000 RMB and it can afford a classic vibe tele.

Now I need some advices here. Is the CV tele so excellent that worth owning one? Or should I save more money (or when I graduated and got a job) to aim a higher one?

Thank you sincerely. and Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you too !...From what others say here, I do not think you would regret the purchase of the CV....They seem to be Excellent Teles.

I don't think I have read one bad thing about the CV but maybe you should go try a couple of those guitars out and see which one feels the best for the price. You might be able to pick up a used MIM for less than a new CV.

Welcome to the group !!

I agree with Tremonti, you should try some different guitars and see what feels/sounds the best to you...

I have a MIA Tele and a MIM Black Dove with p90s...both are very nice guitars..MIAs or MIMs can be gems or duds...

Buying used can save you lots of money...if you can find a guitar you like

but you really do have to try the guitars or amps...I recently thought I might like a Roland Cube 20 amp, it looked good on paper, sounded great on the Roland site demo of it, when I tried it....it didn't say "buy me", I didn't care f or the sound , I didn't like it, didn't buy it.....you might love the CV Tele when you get to try it or you might not..

good luck, hope you find a Tele you like !

Thanks to all of you

I really want to have a try on CV tele but none of guitar shop nearby have it... I can only find it on Taobao.com (as Chinese 'ebay'). What's irony, CV is made in China but I can't see it anywhere.

Maybe I should try some other teles which I can reach. Thank you very much. I think I must got a tele complex because I like tele so so so much.

Squiers aren't bad guitars and they're still Fenders. I say, get one now and then someday you can trade up if you feel like you need to.

Hi,

I have a CV for 4 month and a 52Ri for a week now. The CV is a real great guitar, nice workmanship, perfect setup out of the box, good sounding and compared to the 52RI it is not poorer, only slightly different and a steal for the money.

Go for it, you cant do wrong with the CV

I played one CV in a guitar shop last saturday , only to compare it to my baja .
Couldn't find the reason for a 300Euro price spread !
I love my baja , but the CV amazed me .
Can't go wrong with that guitar .
cheers

The Squier CV is one of the best bargains going. The ones I've seen have been better than most MIM Fenders and close to MIA Fenders in quality.

You'll need a lot more money to have a vintage style telecaster with Fender on the headstock that's as good as a Squier CV.

You're a college student with little money, skipping meals to afford a guitar. Being hungry will affect your academic performance. While I admire your level of interest, as a middle-aged guy with a lifetime to look back on, my advice is to buy the least expensive guitar that will do what you need. The CV Tele could very well be that guitar.

If you're a typical guitar player you will eventually buy more guitars anyway. Buy the CV.

Thank you so much for the sweet suggestions.

I just decided to buy it and I connected with the owner of the shop. He told me the first batch of CV tele they only got five in total (only five in whole China!) and it's sold out in a moment. What a pity and what's irony, they are made just here in China...

The owner of the shop told me that he'll connect with me as soon as next batch comes. Now I am looking forward to it...

Thank you again guys. I really appreciate your advices because I like tele to death!
