mim vs mia I feel like I am cheating on my mia

Gday Guys

Im only a newbie at Guitar and I have a delema as you guys would probaly know Fender Guitars Down Under are exspensive . MY Deluxe was around $2600.00 and My mim which I just got out of layby was just under the $900.00 mark .as a newbie I am only starting to now understand the feel and difference in tones between guitars . Main reason I got the mim was to have a guitar cheaper than my main Tele to have out on a stand so when ever I walk by hello pick it up for a quick play But I wasnt exspecting it to be so nice . I dont know the words to describe it as I am only new to guitar but I can try .It feels richer in tone and the feel of the guitar feels like it has some type of rawness to it I just dont know but I love it . My Deluxe with the s1 switch I dont know maybe in time I hope when I get better with playing i will find things in my playing that my Deluxe will give me. But right now i am loving the feel of mim tele
I still feel like I am cheating spending all this time with my new Tele better spend some time with mia (Whats the deal with the the S1 switch good or gymick ? does anyone think it takes away the Tele sound or do most owners of teles with the s1 switch think its awsome? )
Once again thanks in advance to my newbie ???? I dont what I would do If I had more than two Teles

It looks like a Baja Tele you have, these are amazing guitars, I have two, without a doubt the best cheap guitars I have ever owned so I can understand your sentiments here. You should check the owners club thread for these for loads of great info.

At those prices if I was you I would be learning in Tele Depot how to make your own and start Wombat guitars.

I thought it was a mim Standard Tele I am still learning the different models. What does Baja Mean ?

Gday Wombat,

Baja Tele's are a range of 'custom shop designed' Telecasters but made/assembled in Mexico with a specific pickup configuration. The have been around for about 3 years or so and have gained a great reputation despite some variances in quality, I was very lucky in that both of mine are rock solid, good players and not too heavy, I definitely landed on my feet with mine.

You'll find great info and detailed specs and reviews on the site.

Well first off, congrats on a beautiful pair of guitars--I think we have the same MIM Std, and I agree with you about its quality, especially for the $$. You Dlx is sweet too--I used to own one of those, but sold it to buy a used '52 Reissue.

I like the S-1...(I still have it on a Baja)--I don't use it all the time, but every once in a while it can really give you a different flavor on a favorite tune. BTW, I'm a rank amateur too, having picked up guitar back in '03-'04. At my age, I doubt I'll every have fans burning their lighters for an encore, but I'm having a good time!

As to your feeling of cheating, just remember the nice thing about guitars and dogs, is that unlike wives and girlfriends, they really don't mind if you play with another guitar or dog!

I suspect right now you're playing your new MIM more because, well obviously it's a very nice guitar, but it's also brand new. Give it a couple weeks and you'll reconnect with your Am Dlx and it will feel new again...and the cycle will continue.

Oh and finally...if you hang around here long enough, I'm guessing you'll find out how you'll handle owning more than two telecasters!!

I don't think your other guitars mind if you play one more than the other. You might question why you have the other one, and I think thats a personal choice. Some people like MIA guitars and some don't. Some MIM guitars probably play better than some MIA.

That's not a Baja, it's a MIM Standard. Six saddle bridge, and the S1 switch the OP mentioned is on the MIA Deluxe.
