NGD - CS MB - Did I really just buy that?!
Arrived today - I had been watching this guitar for a week or so, resisted pulling the trigger, even though it was significantly less than some similar I had tried in retail stores. Then it was relisted for even less (a bit more than i've seen CS Nocasters go for), by a seller thinning his herd. I cracked, told the wife I loved her, and bought it, rationalising that the Strat could go if we were short of cash. Behold:
CS 50' Closet Classic one-off, Masterbuilt by Dennis Galuszka. Looks 2-colour Sunburst in life, but not so sure now I've seen the pics. Might be a reflection of the case giving the red tinge. Chunky 1 piece maple C neck .92 to .92 (ish according to my ruler), not a U but a lovely handful similar to CS Nocaster feel. I now understand this "tone is in the chunky neck" debate. 9.5 radius. Frets are not vintage, but less than the med jumbos on my Logan. One piece ash body; the thing is so light and balanced, couldn't believe when it weighed in at 8.2lbs. I swear a significant part of that is in the solid neck. hangs like a sub 7lb guitar. Tone to die for, not sure what pups it has in, but even the neck pup, whilst having softer tone still jangles sooo musically. The Bridge pup snaps and twangs, growling when cranked. I tried to get more details from Fender before buying, but they don't keep specs on one-off orders. My main worry was the neck, as I have developed a taste for chunk. This is the neck I've been looking for, for my Strat, now its even better cos its on a Tele. This guitar has a real old vibe in my hands - I'm Stoked. You can just see the checking below the bridge, its alot more obvious in the flesh. And with her sisters. I'll never need to buy another guitar!

Mighty pretty guitar!
More pix, pleez. btw, the way those grain lines "chevron" together in back, I will bet that is a center joined 2 piece ash body. Nice straight grain; the way most of like it. |

Yes Boris,
Had a look, you're probably right, can't see the join even up close. As requested, here are some more pics, I've tried to show the neck chunkiness. BTW, I just caught my 3 yr old about to sand the front of this guitar!!!!
