no there are older ones with higher serial #'s than newer ones.

You have to remove the neck or date it by the pot codes if they are original.

What Mark said...but you can tell if it's the 1st series by a 4 digit number w/ a Dot mark underneath...versus a later series w/ a 5 digit number and no dot.

You can do, but its better to do it just by a moonlit lake...with a blanket and a nice bottle of Chablis.
