Squier CV question...

Man I love this forum, but I don't know how much longer I can afford it! Since joining a little over a month ago I've already bought 2 Teles... Can anybody tell me what size hex key I need to adjust the saddle height on my new CV?

TIA!

- Bill

If you got a new CV in the box the allen keys are inside the box and easily thrown out with the packaging.

The correct answer is in the CV owners club thread but its so big its hard to find.

As I remember its 1/16" but I could be wrong. I do know the truss rod is 3/16".

You might loosen the strings on the b-e saddle and just unscrew one of the adjuster screws and go to a home depot or Lowes and find the right wrench.

the key for the saddles I got with my CV don't really seem to fit right at all (I think it felt too big to stick inside)...I noticed they packed my guitar in the duo sonic box, are keys for those different?

I adjusted the neck just fine, but ended up barely managing to tweak the saddle height with some old key I've got and it didn't seem to fit either...

You got the wrong wrench both mine fit perfect but I was the first person to open the box mine came in so I know they are the right ones.

yeah, I figured...blame it on the store clerks...

oh and, If you can figure out the size of a key it would be deeply appreciated...I'd have to order it online. where I live in Europe, it's
nearly impossible to find the "american sized" keys...

The one I got was too small! I had to replace it, can't remember the size though.

yeah, pardon the you part of the message...I'll post a question in the club. Thanks for the wealth of CV info you shared so far. Probably wouldn't even get one without it!

The answer is in the CV owners club thread but its so big I cant find it.

in the meantime you can just get a wooden matchstick or a square toothpick and sand it down till it fits and loosen the strings and adjust the saddles.

Ive done that in a pinch when I couldnt find the right sized wrench.

Well, I went down to Sears and bought a small set of U.S. hex keys... the correct size is 1/16". My saddles are now dialed in.

So this morning I get out the CV box, and TA-DA... there's the little zip-lock bag with 2 hex keys hidden under one of the cardboard flaps that form the head stock cradle.

Guess my memory is still working then. I thought it was 1/16" as I posted but didnt want anyone to buy a 1/16" wrench incase it was the wrong size.

Glad you found your wrenches it comes with. Always good to have a spare they are easily lost.
