Tele is King!
Hey folks, I've reached the point where I don't want or need to play anything but my old beat up telecaster! Am I the only one who has come to this conclusion? I've bought and sold some nice guitars over the years, but my tele has always remained constant and she's growing to be more a part of me every day. I mean it's the perfect guitar isn't it? Ole Leo sure got it right the first time didnt he? This point was cemented for me just this weekend...a few weeks ago I came across an excellent deal on a Faded Flying V and I bought it on impulse. Of course, I did do some research and I didnt go into the deal totally blind, but it was an impulse buy. I just got her on friday. she is without a doubt a sweet guitar, great pickups and hardware, fine neck-she has many of the same qualities of my '99 LP standard. BUT...Get this....I'm already ready to sell her and have a buyer lined up! Why? Because, I already have the guitar for me...my old tele! I've found that the combination of my Traynor YCS90 amp with my Jacques Overtube totally goosed and plaugged into the front of it, and my old tele with esquire switching and a single SD Broadcaster pup, I can get as low down and nasty as I want with all of the tonal control I need, or she can clean up and lay out all the chicken pickin tone I need. In fact if I ever buy another electric, it will only be as a backup for my old tele, and she will be bought all in parts to make up the absolute best tele partscaster I can make...a great body, a great neck, and a great bridge pup is all I'll ever need! I can't believe it...I was a dyed in the wool Gibson guy for about 8 of my 26 years on this planet, and now I've come full circle and returned to the very telecaster I started out with, my first decent electric guitar-and when I say decent I don't mean she was any 52, in fact she was falling apart when I got it...let's just say she is the reason I am a master of the soldering iron today...but nonetheless she's my baby and I can't see myself playing anything else as long as I live...I mean, I've got a brand new V which is, in itself, a lovely beautiful guitar and if she had been put in my hands 10 years ago I would have flipped, in fact any Gibson player would flip because she really is an awesome guitar-sweet neck, nice pickups and fine action-but she ain't what I'm lookin for...my ole tele does it all for me...if you can't play it on a tele, it aint worth playin....unless you're a metalhead, a tele will get you through...and even so, I'd love to see some metal guy totally rippin it up on an old blonde 52 sometime..thatd be awesome!!!

I belong to this forum and the jazz guitar forum http://www.jazzguitar.be/forum/. Two solitudes! Here we have threads like "why do humbuckers suck?" and there posters wonder how anyone can stand the sound of a Tele -- all icepick all the time. Lots of self-selection, eh?

We don't like Jazz here and we don't like people who play jazz and we don't like people who talk about jazz. We don't like the word JAZZ or JAZZ guitars' or jazz records or jazz recordings. We don't like links to Jazz forums. We don't like the letter J and we don't like the letters A & Z and we especially don't like when they're connected to form the word JAZZ. So listen up and never bring that subject up AROUND HERE AGAIN. BTW, welcome to the forum.WINK

I know what you are saying. I only play Fender guitars, whay because I love their sound feel everything about them. I have a Strat and 2 teles. The Teles are what I play and feel most comfortable on. I appreciate LPs but...as I have said before you pay way too much foe what you get. I feel Fender's prices are perfect and am willing to pay them. The Tele IMO is the best all around guitar you could buy. So, my friend I understand you completely.!

yep, I guess it was stream of consciousness which kept me from organising my thoughts into clear concise paragraphs :) I was overtaken by my love for my tele! Keep on pickin', folks!

BTW...do any of you folks know where I can find a pine tele body? The priceof the squier cv 50s tele is still pretty good so I was kinda thinking of buying one of them just for the body. If I got one and liked her enough as is, I might even leave her stock for awhile, like a few years, until I could get enough coin together to mod her the way I want...wouldn't really be a partscaster I guess, but who cares, long as it works...
