Where are all the teles at?

Been looking online for weeks and haven't seen anything of interest. Either plain jane sunburst models or overpriced pieces. I live near nashville and knoxville and both of those cities don't have any teles in stock. Is there is a tele shortage that I don't know about? I have been looking for used models obviously. Since when do american standards that are 10 years old bring $900?

This one looks interesting.

I'm not seeing a lot of M.I.A. Tele's in Nashville craigs. That seems odd to me, Tennessee?, geez, there outta be some tele's around.

In Portland there's three in the first ten listings I'd be interested in, YMMV.

Same as usual, the big stores never carried more than a few. There'll be 42 strats and 2 teles.

You're right, Stratman... there aren't many Teles in the Knoxville area. When I lived in Nashville, I came across a lot of Tele players, but you can forget finding many shops with a good selection. In Knoxville, for example, there are very few country acts; instead, everyone is in a metal or biker-blues band. This causes an overload of Les Pauls, SGs, Strats, Ibanez, etc. Most store Teles have duel humbuckers to fit this demand. Occasionally, you will come across a Tele at a right price (it is TN, after all). This has been my struggle finding a quality '72 Custom RI, but thanks to this site, I think I may have the right connection to get one. My point is this: try this site. Check the classifieds and let it be known what you're looking for. Where else to find a decent Tele than a Tele site???

Later.

I just graduated from UT (knoxville, the real UT..lol) and looked high and low for a used usa tele and came up empty every time. Look at the bright side...at least you aren't in rural west tn looking for one!
