Says it comes with original gigbag. Did Fender use gigbags in '53?

The 1950s Fender gig bag, an alternative to the more
expensive rectangle hard shell tweed case.

Man, the original gig bag sure looks a lot like a hard shell case...

I notified EBay a few years ago on a seller who had no history and was posting an arsenal of vintage guitars, all his posts were removed prior to sale.

Bank transfer only, and pick up in person???? why couldn't you show up at his house with a cashier's check and hand it over once some verification was done???

The fact that he is allowing personal pickup is in the sellers favor - assuming his address is real...

Either way, that's a beautiful 53. Does anyone have any bigger shots of the guitar? I'm assuming he stole them from somewhere.

The descriptions are misleading too, the "1960 Telecaster" is actually a Custom Shop 60s Custom Tele, complete with COA. "Condition = new" at the top, "Good condition" further down.

one day this IS going to happen for real! - someone is going to empty dear departed 'uncle Bobs' house and find a whole pile of 'old guitars' to put on ebay.

We'll all be sitting here going ha! - fake!

And some spotty oik will get a guitar to learn on for 100 notes, 'til they get bored and trash but and meantime put a humbucker in to be like dave grohl, armed with the contents of the kitchen drawer to do the job.

OK I exaggerate! .. or .. do . I .. ;)

I hate stories like that. They do happen I had a friend tell me of a guy he knows who recently sold a vintage Goldtop Les paul for £600 so he could buy a new strat and Tele. He said that was all he needed and he wanted to sound like the Edge from U2 and couldn't manage to do that with the Goldtop.

Even if it was a new Goldtop standard that would have been ridiculous, but from the way my friend described the guitar it sounded like mint 1968 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop with p90s. It was left to him by someone in his family. I just keep telling myself it was not a 1956 Goldtop.

Anyway people do do crazy things with vintage guitars, especially if they have no idea what they are.

"SPOTTY OIK". Off topic but I love the slang I learn here from other areas of the world. I had to surf that one out, although my guess in context was spot on.

If that spotty oik gets a nice ax like that, I want to be a spotty oik! I'm calling kids that from now on, when they come to class tardy. It's not dirty, is it?

^In the UK ebay insists on sellers accepting Paypal. This listing stated in big bold letters "Bank transfer only", which no doubt got it flagged. Ebay don't like people avoiding paying Paypal fees!
