A weight like that must be real rare I'm sure.

7.4 lbs is a good weight.

From reading this forum (and other websites) I've got the impression that weights in the area of 8-9 lbs are more usual, with a few even heavier.

Seems to me the Baja is one of the Tele models that varies the most in weight.

I have a blonde baja 7.1lbs and a desert sand one 7.3lbs and the scales is pretty good so I would guess that's pretty accurate. However the desert sand is off this morning to get fitted with the fender stamped b5 kit......

Thats a nice weight. I like the neck and all the specs of the Baja, but the 8 or 10 I've found at various shops have all been well over 8 lbs. Just too heavy to even consider.

My Bajas sound better when I don't weigh them.

I'm just glad all the blowout priced ones I found were of reasonable weight. I'd have hated to pass up a much heavier Baja at $ 469. I got lucky.

It seems to me that the weight doesn't mean it will sound bad, I hope. ' Cause I'm on that list with a Baja that weighs 8.8 lbs. I didn't try it out before buying it; I just ordered at a local Fender Shop who beat GC's price. I remembered trying out a Jimmie Vaughan Strat model with Tex-Mex pickups, and that was a treat to play. I knew anything that Fender made in Mexico was gonna be good.

Well, if it means anything, the guitar is really loud when I play it unplugged!

And my strap is 2.5 in wide. And weight is a non-issue for me, as I occasionally work out, so it ain't heavy to me.
