Anyone yet modify their telecaster switching/circuitry to get Brian May's Sound?

Has anyone tried it yet? I'm guessing phase switching and some sort of fancy cap and pot changes.

Is it even remotely possible with only a 2 pickup telecaster?

Three Burns Tri-Sonic pickups are necessary, can't get anywhere close to the classic Queen sounds without them. I've seen a Strat modified with three of those and the correct switching, that sounded pretty close.

Yes. Brian's RS switches them in SERIES unlike normal guitars. Downside is you can't get any normal sounds.

It is possible to have one setting on a Nashville tele be all 3 pickups on in series, I know I wired my Strat for all 3 on in the middle position (but couldn't tell you if it was series or parallel). Consider picking up a cheap Nashville and go to town.

here is a link for a Dan Armstong wiring schematic that will get you every darn tone under the sun, including 3 in a series..

sure, you will have a FrankenTele when you are done, but whatever floats your boat! A little further web searching and you might find a wiring scheme that doesn't involve all those toggle switches... wish I could tell you how I wired my '84 Tele but I gave it to my step-son and I can't remember if it ended up series or parallel. Good Luck
