Finally found the guitar

Sorry if this is a boring post to you but....
Ive been trying to find a guitar I could gel with for years now I started with a U2 danelectro reissue, then a AM Strat sold that cuz I found the neck to chunky, then animpulse trade in a ibanez 103 as cuz I wanted to get rid of the Strat so badly but I just couldnt make clean barre cords on it so I was searching for a guitar and something drew me towards a Tele even though I had convinced myself a 25.5 inch scale was to big for my small fingers (big palms stumpy fingers), Anyway I had been reading about a soft v neck being good for getting your thumb over the top. So I tried the Baja as it is one of the cheapest fenders to offer a soft v neck (I know people say its fat but I find it easier to do thumb over barres than an ibanez wizard, am I a freak?) so i tried it loved it not just the neck EVERYTHING, I think im a Tele man for life now

Anyway any Baja tips?
Dunno what weight mine is but it feel much lighter than my Strat was.
Also I know theres loads of talk about noise from pickups but I dont get much at all even in just the bridge alone slot.?(but i did try 2 the ltd ed blue and the desert sand and the blue was quite noisey so i choose the desert sand I perfer the look anyway).

So whats a good cheap small little house valve amp to compliment this beautiful guitar + Any tips hint or comments welcome.

Glad to meet you all
Kilf

Hi Kilf! Welcome aboard the forum and congrats for your new guitar!

IMHO a Fender Blues Jr amp would be a perfect match for your Tele. You can get sound and tone levels to play at home and is also the perfect amp for small venues gigs.

Anyway, others may give you some different advice, but if I was in your shoes thatīs what I would do.

Congrats on finding "The One"

As far as amps, I highly recommend the Gibson GA-5. There was one in the classifieds here on the TDPRI. At the price it was offered for, you'd be getting a great amp with much nicer features (hand wired, better tubes) than others in that price range. I love mine. I'm not affiliated with the seller.

Welcome to the forum too!

That Gibson is still there along with a nicely priced Champ and a Blackheart. Another good, often overlooked, amp is the GreTsch G5222. Definitly check out the classifieds here because the sellers are all good, honest folks and, you may even be able to track down a thread or two about the actual amp and any mods they've done.

well in my house I run my teles through a stock blues junior hotrod, it really is an awesome amp for the house and for teles. The tones are great and I can pretty much dial in just about anything. And it's small enough to carry around if you need to.

As the OP is in the UK, and presumably on 240v, wouldn't shipping and then replacing the PT on a USA amp be prohibitive?

The Fender BJr is a great amp and goes very well with a Tele. I wouldn't exactly call it "cheap" but it's certainly not an expensive boutique amp. I think it's a huge step up from the Epi VJr, Harley Benton etc. And while I've not tried one myself, I'd also check out the new Vox AC4 line.

I have the same kinda hands as you. I also find the soft V to be my favorite neck shape. As far as amps, I would try all of the amps mentioned above , all good amps. See what works for you. Welcome to the club.

I've recently taken a liking to the Epiphone Blues Custom 30. I've compared it to a few high ends and liked it more. You should at least give it a try.

The Baja is a GREAT tele. One of my fav stock teles.

I like the fact that the Gibson GA-5 is hand wired (if you ever have to have it repaired, you will be glad you have a hand wired amp)...but I know the tone of the Blues Jr. and consider it almost as indestructible as my sure sm-57. I think you can't go wrong with a Blues Jr. or a GA-5. A tele ain't nothin' without an amp....
