New Tele Owner... Help
Hi all,
I am new to Tele's and have just bought my first one. However I am having some trouble finding anything out about it. If I am honest I do not normally like Tele's but this one grabbed me hard and fast and I was smitten. It was sold to me as a Telecaster Special Edition and I was told new these cost £1000 (though to be honest I am happy with the guitar and what I paid so that is unimportant) It is truely gorgeous and sounds a dream and looks much like a Fender CUSTOM TELECASTER FMT HH and has a one piece through neck but it is all Black and I have not seen a Custom FMT HH in this colour. The head stock states Made in Korea and has the serial number of 04083038 but I cannot find anywhere to date the guitar. I have attached a pic and any information you could help me with would be appreciated.. model/year style etc This one has been fitted with DiMazio pickup and Planet wave tuners/self trimmers, which neither I guess are stock? Thx Tony Last edited by j3ster; November 3rd, 2009 at 06:05 PM. |

It certainly smells like an older Fender FMT: MIK, dual DiMarzio humbuckers, set neck with rosewood fingerboard, contour body sans pickguard.
The p'ups are probably stock (Fender did use DiMarzio's in their older FMTs), and the FMT's, while they don't yield a traditional Tele sound, have great appeal among players. They sold new for around $630 US, when I bought mine more than a few years ago. Good luck with it - and welcome to the forum.
