60th anniversary mim esquire
does anyone have any information on these? i have an opportunity to buy one for $599 and it looks and plays fantastic. it's a sunburst with a maple neck. the neck has the same tint as the cv tele but it's a little bigger.

Used? Way too much, unless you think that example is worth a 50% premium.
There's actually no such thing as a MIM 60th Anniv. Esquire. There was an extremely limited (UK and Europe only) Limited Edition MIA Esquire, but that's not this. What you have there is a 2006 MIM Classic 50's Esquire, just like the 2008s and 2005s and 2003s except for a tiny button that virtually all 2006 Fender products carry. No different from this 2004 production example: ![]() Forgive me the modifications I've done. If this is a pro dealer you're buying from, they're not steering you right if they're holding it out as a limited edition anniversary model. Actually the only MIM "60th Anniversary" model is a Blizzard Pearl Strat with Tex Mex pups. All the other 60th Anniversary models are USA. But, if you can get them down, buy that, not the CV. |

thanks for the info on the squire, somehow i knew something wasn't right. i didn't even look to see if the neck plate had anniversay on it. it's stiil a great player so i'll try to get them to bring the price down, if not i'll just pass on it.

yeah, they're great guitars, but that's too much for a used one.
$400 is about right I'd guess, as Boris referenced.

It is a good guitar; I like mine a lot. You're right, the neck is much bigger than a Classic Vibe. I guess in relation to a $ 350 CV it is worth $ 500 easy, it is just that it is a 3 year old guitar and the market demands a discount on used guitars. I wonder how often Fender wishes they hadn't put those tiny buttons on there. I see them like Birthday Party hats. Every child who attended the party got one, but it wasn't every child's birthday. With some folks telling the public that every 2006 Fender was a "60th Anniversary" it made selling the real, 2006 only commemorative guitars very very hard. I grabbed a bunch of the special ones; they were very cheaply bought.

i already own the cv tele so this one i would mod a little. i just finished modding my squier 51, so now i need a new project. i'm going to try to get it under $500 and if i do, i'm going to change it into a hotrod but i'll use a tv jones in the neck position.

Personally, I'd mod the CV before I touched a nice MIM Esquire |

Either they swapped bodies, or you have a customized body on that MIM. One more reason to pause. Should have just enough room for a single coil neck pup.

i just checked out the esquire out again and it does have that 60th button on the neck. the serial # is MZ6241965. could it be possible that fender made a limited amount of these?

Also, as we have pointed out, the body is either not original, or it has been routed for the humbucker. Either way, that's a big deduction from the price for an original one. |
