Fender Thinline Custom Shop?

Hello guys! This is my first post.
I need some help here. i am about to trade my Gibson les paul standard with a 90's fender telecaster thinline custom shop.
The problem is that i don't know a lot about teles. I have some strats (Eric Johnson, 92 Plus deluxe)
Check the picture below. I searched over the internet for photos to campare with this and i can see that the knob and switch plate cover is a lit bit strange. I didnt found any other having a plate cover... Is it normal that this one has it?

This guitar is supposed to have Van Zandt pu's and from what i have beed told it's a really great guitar.
What is your opinion? Is it worth to give my lp for this baby? Does it seem genuine to you or it looks like a fake one?

I don'tremember ever seeing a fender with a pickguard like that, but I could be wrong (it's happened before).

Just a feeling, but if I were you, I'd keep the LP!

I think the pickguard is a Stewmac model.

I doubt thats even a Custom Shop model.
