JA-90 Telecaster
Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone has played or even seen one of these yet. They look pretty tantalizing. Are there any other known crimson red transparent, semi-hollow P-90 Teles? |

You like the necks on the American Standard and Deluxe - I think you'll like these necks as well, Ajay!

I am actually looking forward to comparing it with my Custom Shop Tele Jnr, which is also a set neck with twin P90s. It will be very interesting indeed to see how the Korean guitar measures up against the USA Premium model. |

I am interested as well. I almost bought one for $650 yesterday but ordered a 72 deluxe thinline instead. I know that they are "crafted in indonesia" which did scare me a bit but seriously, they look amazing and cannot be anything but a mean sounding guitar with those pickups. Let us know your thoughts. I may end up sending the deluxe back and picking this up...save me about $75 or so.

I can't believe what a coincidence this is, because I was shopping for guitars I can't afford and happened to come across one of these in a store in upstate NY today.
The guitar played incredibly well, and I am a stickler for good setups. No fret buzzing that I noticed in the few minutes I could spend with it, seemed very nicely built, and altogether it was a gorgeous guitar. The set neck and carved joint felt very good in my hands. It's not the beefiest neck in the world, but definitely has kind of a chunky vintage shape to it. If you like P-90s, I think you'll probably like this guitar a lot, as it comes with Duncans (not Duncan-designed, actual Duncans). I'm not much of a P-90 fan, but even so I suspect that if I had the cash I would have taken this guitar home.

Mine has arrived.
It wasn't setup very well when it arrived, the neck was absolutely flat and the action too low. The note on the 14th fret on the high E string was the same as the 15th fret...obviously a "low fret" there. So I backed off the truss rod and raised the "tune-o-matic" bridge a little and then adjusted the intonation. After this the guitar was much better and the extra note had reappeared... It's sort of weird to play as it actually feels a bit like a light Les Paul with the tune-o-matic bridge and set neck. The selector switch is a piece of cheap crap, although the volume and tone pots feel smooth and work fine. The sound is very typical for P90s. Darker tones and most definitely at it's best when the amp is being overdriven. Clean tones are muddy and unsatisfying (maybe OK for jazz?). Not twangy, that's for sure. Summing up: A light Fender Telecaster Les Paul.

OK, some more news and photos of the Jim Adkins Tele....
I took it to my local Jam night last Monday night. Many people were blown away by the quality of the guitar, especially when they we told it was made in Indonesia. It sounded great too. Indeed I let one of my mates (who plays in a 80s/90s Music tribute band called "Hair Guitar" play it also and he came offstage raving about how nice it was to play and how good it sounds. And the photos... ![]() ![]() ![]()

I debated between the Jim Adkins and the Black Dove, went with the Black Dove....if you like the p90 type pick ups you'll probably like either one..I would have liked to lay hands on a Jim Adkins to compare things....
