2009 Fundraiser / Giveaway NOW Underway!

The 2009 Fundraiser Giveaway is has started now and is in full swing!

Read all about it, make a donation to enter, see all the prizes at 2009-fundraiser-giveaway.

So, what can I tell you about this year's Fundraiser? Well, first of all, it is the biggest Giveaway ever on the TDPRI. We have 4 whole guitars (including a one-of-a-kind beauty from the Fender Custom Shop), two amps, a finished body and neck and two unfinished bodies and necks to be given away. And, even more!

For those of you that are new to the TDPRI, each fall we hold a Fundraiser and give away thousands of dollars worth of guitar gear via a "raffle-type" system via donations to the TDPRI. Here's how it works: for every donation you make during the month long fundraiser you get an entry into a raffle to win one of the valuable prizes. Then, at the end of the Fundraiser (mid-November) we give it all way and folks from all over the world WIN. Simple as that.

So, enter Now at 2009-fundraiser-giveaway.

Thanks
TDPRI

Well I sure plan on supporting . . .. gotta sell some things first.

I didn't notice any mention of how the names are drawn: is this a completely random drawing or, since I once made a fool of myself on these boards, are my chances now diminished?

Random drawing.

All entries are put on an Excel spread sheet.

Multiple entries are duplicated to account for the number of entries purchased.

Mail entries are hand entered.

One master spread sheet contains all entries.

Each has a number associated with the row it occupies.

A random number generator is set up reflecting the total number of rows

Random numbers (row numbers) are generated and each number is associated with the row containing the name and email address of each winner.

We look up the winning members (only) to find their TDPRI Username. But many use a different email address for PayPal than they do for the Forum. So, we don't use it for anything but the announcement. Each winner is notified via the email address on their entry.

Ten VERY happy people from all over the world dance and sing. Many have to have me tell their wives that they really did win the guitar and did not purchase it.

All others congratulate them, say "next year" and mutter some expletive under their breath.

The thing is ANYONE can be one of the 10 winners. Someone HAS to win those prizes. Everyone that has won in the past has said, "Gee, I never win anything."

So.... why shouldn't it be YOU?

I tried to enter, but the site won't take my credit card. It took it last year, and I know it's a valid card, because I just used it for a StewMac order.

As always, just an amazing assortment of prizes. Hats off to Fender and all of the companies/individuals who donated. Paul, keep up the good work. Hope this year's fundraiser is the best one yet.

Cool video about the CS guitar:

I was a very fortunate winner last year! I was blessed with a fabulous Hahn 228... the Grand Prize!

It will be someone else who has the good fortune this year, and the prizes are all top-notch! So, get in and have a go!

Check out the Contest page you'll see two things:

1. International members are completely eligible and have, in fact, won many times in the past. (look two posts above yours and you'll see a UK member that won last year's Grand Prize)

2. We use your PayPal email address for entries and need NOTHING else. Why would we? Its a working email address. What else do we need to contact you?

Sorry about that.. I just didn't see anything about that in the email I got from you :) .. I thought you needed my email from my TDPRI account so you could identify my userprofile if I won :) ... Well thanks for your answers !

EDIT> Im definitely in then :D

Only a few days left!

Paul - are you able to tell us how well the Fundraiser is being supported so far?

You mentioned that around 300 folks had entered a couple of weeks ago, and I was just wondering if more members had been able to find a spare $25 since pay day came and went at the end of October?

I'm in as well. Very cool way to keep the forum going and I'm always glad to donate, though I've yet to win anything. I'm mostly a lurker, but have gotten tons of information and inspiration from other members' posts and am more than happy to do my part.
