Vintage Bridge for Squier Fat Tele?
Hi, I've just bought a very nice candy apple red Squier Fat Tele which has a modern 6 saddle bridge that is fastened to the guitar body with 3 screws.
I'd like to change it to an older style bridge featuring 3 brass saddles but these seem to have 4 screws into the body. Can I get a vintage style bridge with a 3 screw fitting as I don't want to drill the body? Such a bridge from a UK based retailer/site would also be nice! Cheers, Gav. |

The spacing for the thru holes is not the same for vintage and modern. Your best bet is to redrill the existing bridge to hole three brass saddles and hope the intonation works with the thru holes..........or...........
I replaced the Squier body with a Fender MIM tele body and mated it to my Squier neck From this: ![]() to this:

Thanks, Gents, for bringing up this discussion.
You got me thinking, and net result is this cascade of 4 Squier conversions to 4 screw mount hole AV oriented bridges: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Much Obliged! Maybe a couple more will follow! Also thanks to Yegbert, who wrote the book on how to do this mod. All the old holes on the front got plugged, and the strings through are directional.

I haven't found a bridge with vintage style features that will fit a Squier Standard Series Tele body like yours, without modding something.
BTW, if you're counting screws, technically your bridge attaches with five not three. The others have noted a couple of the more popular ways to skin this cat. You can drill a stock Squier Standard Series bridgeplate so that it will accomodate a 3 saddle setup... ... or you can fill and drill holes in the body so that you can use a vintage style, vintage spec bridge... ![]()
