NGD (to me)--Rice Custom
First off, my thanks to Starjag, who was kind enough to sell me Rice #125, his shell-pink relic Esquire-ish guitar. One of the nicest purchases I've ever made, even with the whole Canada-US shipping thing. The guitar was packed as carefully as a crystal vase--thanks so much Iggy.
I'd been GASing for a relic for a while--nosed around the Roadworns, as I knew I couldn't afford a CS effort. But about a year ago I started checking out Rice Customs. Couldn't find a negative word about them anywhere, so kept my eyes out. What's kinda cool about this guitar is it has a SD 1/4 Pounder under the PG as a booster. The bridge pup is Loller Special T. I'd describe the neck as a hefty C, 9/5" radius. Also has a Wilkinson 2-way bridge with compensated saddles. The relic job is very well-done--nicer than some Fender CS efforts I've seen. Feels like putting on an old pair of jeans, if you know what I mean. And talk about attention to detail--I took the strap buttons off to put a set of Schaller's on, and even the button screws were aged. Guitar is almost new (like it matters with a relic, right?, LOL)--built in Apr '09. Yea!! Thanks again Starjag, she's perfect. Bill |

They really do a great job and make some nice instruments. The ones i have touched ALL felt like an old friend.
They had some at a guitar show i attended and i hope to get one someday myself. Very nice guitar and that shell pink is awesome!!!

I'm glad to hear you are pleased. We took a little flak for that one from the purists, but I thought it would be really cool and useful. I think Chris balanced the outputs real well, and the humbucker is far enough away from the strings to allow better sustain. I enjoyed playing that guitar, and hope you enjoy it too.
I'm toying with the idea of another one in this configuration, possibly with a Bores PW b-bender installed.

John, she surely does, thanks!
Rich, if you took flack from the purists for building the guitar, they'd probably stroke themselves out if they heard me play, LOL....thanks a ton to both you and Chris for a wonderful instrument. I'm confidant my next Rice (and there will be a next) will be a direct purchase.. Bill |

That's one I've been oogling since it's first appearance on the Rice Custom website.
