Highway 1 Texas Tele...RE: "Hot Vintage Pick-ups"
Went down to my local shop and played one of these bad boys this weekend. I really liked this guitar in just about every way. The 12 inch radius neck felt fantastic. I loved the vintage tuners and the 3 brass barrell bridge. It has a really cool vintage vibe to it. They had two at the shop -- one was set up poorly, the other was set up perfectly. I played the well-set up one, and the tone was much grittier, less twangy, more bluesy and overall, much louder than the regular highway 1 which I also tried out. I must say I really digged the highway Texas tele overall - I like a "dirty" tone and this one has it.

Yes, I would say the regular Highway 1 is twangier than the Highway 1 Texas Tele but the Texas tele was definitely raunchier and louder, kind of a rock and blues guitar sound. However, you still could get some traditional tele twang from the Texas tele if you played with the tone control and volume. Anyone know anything about these "Hot vintage pickups" in the Texas tele, and what makes them different from the regular "vintage pickups" on the regular Highway 1 and 50's Classic models?
