Messing around in Solidworks. Pretty Neat.

Hey guys, just thought I'd throw these rendering I did on SolidWorks on here. I think they're pretty neat.

I've always just used SolidWorks for work stuff really, but you can do some pretty neat things on it with anything - so I started messing around on there and came up with this.

Does anyone else do any guitar stuff with SolidWorks on here?

looks very nice Numeric, I'll have to work on modeling the components next!.

Gary - SolidWorks is a 3d modeling program. It is similar to AutoCAD but it is 3-dimensional. You draw in 2d then extrude into the thrid dimension.

I work in Solidworks almost everyday. Haven't done any guitars, I would have to do that on my own time. I am normally doing stuff like this:

solidworks is more for engineering right? i have been using 3d studio max for a while now, but it is much more art based. here was a tele-bass concept that i wanted to build, until i realized how hard building a guitar actually is!

Yes Solidworks is engineering software that allows you to make solid models of parts and machines that you are going to build. It lets you see things in 3D before you build them and helps you design things much faster and more accurate that the old 2D Autocad way.

I have done both and Solidworks is much faster!

I've messed around with 3D rendering when I was planning my last parts build, I think I did these in a trial version of Maya. It was a few years ago now so the renderings don't look too good by current standards. I'm glad I went with a traditional Tele headstock in the end!
