Why so few '65 Teles?

Had a birthday yesterday, got me thinking about finding pictures of Teles and/or Esquires from the year of my birth, 1965. Got to say, there's not exactly an abundance of them out there that I can find. Was it a bad year? Transition time? I have Duchossoir's book and can't recall seeing many or any in there either. Was I born under a bad sign?

Pics, anyone please? Cheers.

Jaguars, Jazzmasters, Mustangs and Duo Sonics were hot in that period.
The following year more music media showed Telecasters with Jeff Beck,
James Burton, Buck Owens and even Mike Bloomfield plus a bunch of
pop, rock and country acts on TV and LP record covers.

I think '65 the Tele had lost it's first bloom of newness and novelty - so had the Strat. Leo & co had the vague idea they were going to intro new guitar models like car models and replace earlier ones. The Strat was almost dead as a model when Hendrix virtually single-handedly resurrected it. The JM didn't survive in an unbroken line because it fell from fashion. The Tele was sort of immune from being pensioned off, as the 'first' - even in the 70's when down to a trickle of sales. Eveything else had t earn it's keep.
