Value of E series Japanese Squier Telecaster

Hey guys,

I am fairly new to telecasters and I'd like some direction in price. I know that Japanese Squier telecasters are looked highly upon and I am wondering what the value range would be for a 1987 E series Squier Telecaster MIJ in Mint condition?

Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

Geordie.

Probably around $400 or so, though others might quibble with that price. I used to have an E-series Squier myself and they are excellent guitars.

Thanks for the information. Does anybody else have any guesses? Will these eventually be considered as collectable as the JV and SQ series?

Thanks.

my standard reply to questions like this is...take the neck off and see if there are markings in the pocket to tell you where the guitar fits in the pecking order. Model number/retail price will go further to ball park the guitar than the E number.

Sneakyjapan, are there variations in quality among the E-series Squiers? I thought they were uniform as far as quality and price?

I paid 300 for my 1985/86 E series MIJ Squier Tele a year ago and it was worth every cent!! The frets had a little wear and the body had some chips, but not that much.

since you asked the question a few days ago, I have seen on line here a 62-115 E serial strat...meaning it retailed for 115,ooo yen in `86 and it shares many characteristics with the 52-120 tele got a couple of weeks ago with the JV bridgeplate...seems there may have been some guitars built with left over parts from the JVs, not unheard of to mix and match parts on some FJs from those years.
Short answer...yes....evidently there are higher end Es.
