GFS, Dragonfire, who makes this stuff?

Hello,
Scanning parts and this stuff looks identical.

Who really makes this stuff?

Jay at GFS tends to deal directly with the manufacturer and has things made to his specs. He doesn't accept BS from them and if anything is wrong has a tendency to send shipments back, saying, "Uh... You made this wrong. Redo it."

It is entirely possible that Jay's simply carrying the same tuner.

As far as who you buy from, that's up to you, but I'm a very happy customer of GFS. Jay might seem a bit short in e-mails (he's a New Yorker), but he bends over backwards to make customers happy as long as you actually get in touch with him about the problem.

It's all asian-made stuff, but all of it that I've bought I've been pretty happy with, especially the pups, bridges and tuners. I've got GFS pups in three of my guitars, and they were everything they were claimed to be. I have a set of Dragonfire Screamers in a pre-wired pickguard on my open-G Strat and they are some of the sweetest 'buckers I've ever heard. The bodies, on the otherhand, generally needed a bit of work, but I really can't complain for 50-60 bucks.

So far, I've hav good luck with the GFS stuff. I've been watching for a month for the Sperzel-like tuners to be in stock, no luck. Last night I found the tuners that look identical from guitarpartssource on ebay. I ordered them. Excited to see.

I've only made one purchase from GFS and it was a positive experience.

The prices kind of make you wonder about all the really expensive stuff out there.

I got these tuners today from guitarpartssourceonline.com "the home of dragonfire parts" and I tell you what....I'm Impressed. The locking knob is threaded directly to the locking pin. I don't see any potential for broken knobs like the "real" sperzels.
Gears look like finely machined brass. Just for a cool note, the anchor screw lines up perfectly with the screwhole of the Squier Starcaster neck that I'm re-furbing.

Great luck here with years of dealing with GFS, especially their pups. Much better than one could imagine for the money paid.

I have compared GFS's Firebird and fat pole tele sets to some Artec generic ones from a dealer on eBay. The only difference was $20 a pickup in price. The boxes they came in were the same except for the GFS sticker. This may not be true for all their pups and perhaps I just got lucky with the generics. I have seen some truly bad Chinese pickups!

So, has anyone found whether these parts are coming from the same place?

I'm sorry. The correct website if not on ebay is www.guitarpartsonline.com

I still haven't finished that guitar to be able to string up yet. I will report imediately when I do. I am very impressed with the quality just looking them over.

I'll be buying some probably either this evening or tomorrow. If I get mine installed first I'll post a mini review.

I bought 3 sets of the tuners. They are as good as the Fender branded ones I have on my Warmoth strat. They are a solid well made item. The biggest bonus to me was that I'm a lefty and the ones that I bought from Dragonfire are made for a lefty headstock. (They also sell the righty ones)

I used all 3 sets on strat style guitars with vintage tremolos. After installation I did several divebombs as well as subtle tremolo passages. The guitars all stayed in tune much better than with traditional non locking tuners.

I will be buying a few more sets for my other tremolo equiped guitars.
