Is this butterscotch blonde or honey blonde?
I'm about to bid on another guitar but this caught my eye. It's what I need b/c I have neck...but I can't tell from the pictures if it's butterscotch or honey...
What do you think? The seller hasn't responded...I only have a few minutes to decide which to bid on... |

Hmmmm
I agree with the Honey blonde.
The wood grain-lines are black, with a very white looking wood like my Squier, and that is 'alder'. That's only a guess though. Plus, I think the seller is trying to say it's not a Squier (he said esquire), but it could be: My Squier does not have the flat spot on the side, by the 1/4" jack hole, like a standard Fender made Telecaster does. Hope that helps. Good Luck!

the seller responded...said it was alder. also said it wasn't quite butterscotch...but similar. he also said he "thought" the brand was DX Hand Made Vintage Series. Sounds kinda like the SX guitars that go for $109. I'll pass
I also lost that other auction...for the Fernandes "The Revival". That guitar was nice...almost pulled the trigger for $330...but I couldn't. I told myself $300 was the limit. Oh well...the serach continues. |

good for you, powerchord. too many people let auction fever push them past their limit and don't get good deals. they also contribute to higher prices on most things.
honey blonde vs. vintage blonde is a real tough thing to judge sometimes. butterscotch has remained relatively constant in the last few years, but honey blonde has changed a few shades. some honey blondes are more like a see-through vintage white, which is what's supposed to simulate the yellowing of an old olympic white guitar. so you get grain, but kind of a bright color. some other honey blondes are like on the buddy guy strat, which is like buttescotch blonde without so much yellow in the mix. that one in the auction definitely didn't look butterscotchy to me. |
