Totally New Commercial Rules -- Vendor Program

Today we are announcing a total revamping of our commercial rules and the beginning of our new Vendor Program.

As of today, commercial members may enroll in a new Vendor Program that allows them to discuss their products and companies in posts for the first time. It also allows them to use commercial usernames and have commercial links and logos in their signature. Plus many other new features.

Also, a new Vendor Forum will open later today that is used specifically for Vendors to actively promote their products and even provide special offers to members. Only Vendors can start threads in the Vendor Forum, but everyone can respond. Plus Vendors can open, close, and delete their own thread in the Vendor forum, too.

Read all about this change at: http://www.tdpri.com/forum/announcement.php?f=7&a=49

OK, Paul. Whatever you think is best. :-)
I think this is only going to make me more asset rich and cash poor. LOL
My s.o. isn't going to like you.

At our current size something had to be done. Too much time and effort going into monitoring vendors -- many of whom are big supporters of the TDPRI.

This is great, I'm not a vendor and don't plan to be but it's a great way for some of the more customer friendly companies to keep in touch with the customer base.

Yup, this is a great idea. Builders like Ron, Gil, Chihoe et al can now promote their guitars without fear of being deleted, and we can see pics and discuss prices, options etc? Yes? Can only be good for all concerned, IMHO.
Thanks.

hmmm, many of those guys contribute so much by way of tutorials and build threads that I would have thought they deserved the opportunity to discuss what they do. It's one of the main reasons I've stayed here, kind of like an online apprenticeship. It's not exactly spamming is it? $250 seems like a lot of dough but hey, you make the rules.

edit: you could always have had a rule where anyone over a certain number of posts can discuss commercial things, of the top of my head how about anyone above 1294 posts?

I absolutely would use the vendors forum.....but I really must say, Is there any way in this first year to do quaterly installments or somekind of first year discount ?

I have great feedback over on another forum but the year cost is much less than $250.

Great idea Paul. $250 a year for the kind of exposure they'll get here is CHEAP I reckon...

Cool.

I would like to see a monthly installment, or Half yr. $125.00 payment. For Small , struggling businesses.
Regardless, I will be onboard soon.

Just so everyone will know:

We do not plan to offer any payment plan with payments of less than one annual payment. That would make it too easy for a vendor to post for a month or three or six and then stop paying and disappear. The content would remain and they would have all the benefit without paying all the cost. While this can certainly happen after one year at the very least the vendor will pay for for one year's worth of benefit.

We studied other such programs at other websites our size and feel that the price is more than fair -- a number of people have contacted us and said we should charge $1,200 a year ($100 a month). Instead we are charging what equals out to $20.84 a month. A very low and very fair amount.

Certainly, not everyone can afford this, or wants to pay that much, that is up to them. But the price is what we've determined to be a fair amount and we have no plans to lower the price or the payment schedule. For most businesses selling commercially $250 for 12 months of promotion in front of 12 million visitors is not a significant barrier to participating.

I'm with it Paul. $250 is cheap advertising.
I'm signing up asap.
