Found one of these...

A Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster! Used, at MGR. Priced at $380 with a hardshell case.

They seem to be well reviewed.

I was in there about noon, walked around and looked at several other guitars. I saw the Tele, but walked right past it.

At home I suddenly thought, "What the heck is wrong with me?" So finally I went out an got there about 630pm. It was gone!!! I looked around and there was some 10-11 year old girl holding it. Arg! What is she doing with my guitar?

Mom and some very large woman was in there trying out guitars for the girl. The big gal was actually a pretty good player. So I walked around, waiting for them to peter out and set it down. They didn't.

A salesman was try real hard to sell it (the cad) and was telling them the truth about how it was the best axe on the floor. Mom was saying the little girl wanted to play guitar and she wanted to get her a good guitar. Good for her! I felt if the little kid wanted it cool. It sure beat the boiled egg slicer I played when I was her age. The little girl was wanting a Les Paul, but mom said it was too much. I could just see that little 80 pound kid strapping on a 10 pound guitar! That would be like me playing a 35 pound guitar!

So I waited and waited, talking with another salesman, waiting.

Why not the Schecter, kid? They had an awesome looking Schecter with abalone shell bindings. It was a looker, just not what I play. Pick that one. Pick the Hanna Montana guitar, anything, just set that fender down so sneaky old Dave can slip in and take it.

Never happened.

Mom hung onto that like she was suckling it.

Finally I gave the clerk my number and said call me if they ever leave without it.

About an hour later, he called. They left without buying anything. Nada. They just wasted and hour and a half of the sales guys time, probably to go to GC tomorrow and get the kid a crappy Epiphone LP.

Anyway, Woohoo! They are about to learn a bitter lesson about guitars. It's on hold for me for 1 day.

They had a number of neat guitars in there today. More than usual. That Fender, a couple of great playing Schecters, and a like new Blues Junior. Also some nice acoustics. I played them all waiting for Daisy Rock to let that Tele go.

Anyway I'll be back at noon tomorrow and check out and lay it away until payday, if I like it.

Any opinions on these guitars?

It's a real fun guitar. Not a traditional Tele, but a real guitar nevertheless. That price is a steal.

I figure the Hard shell case is worth $80. I've not seen it, but if it was a Fender branded case, that would just kick.

That leaves that guitar at $300.

The first pic didn't really grab my attention, but that yellow one did. Maybe its the bed spread.. ;) ....Looks like a great fun guitar for the money..I'd be tempted if it were me. If it were me, I'd try some bucker sized P90 style pickups in it...just cause!!!

By my quick calculations, you are weighing in at 280#. Make me wonder how Large was this Very Large Woman?

a: The reason I got my degree in journalism was to not take any math courses.

b. I weigh about 235.

c. The playing woman was a heifer. One of those circular-round gals with curly hair and a do rag. The Lilith Fair type. But she did play well.

d. This little kid was the one that I imagined with a Les Paul breaking her back.

e. Mom was a blonde MILF.

OK, I went over and laid it away!!! It's mine. I just gotta resolve a small issue with paypal and I'll have it in a couple more days. (No big issue, it just won't transfer the cash to my bank account without telephone verification to landline. I got no landline, just cellphones. So I gotta do it at work tomorrow.)

I showed a brown one in the first thread, but it's actually a cherryburst like this one. It looks nicer though face to face. Only issue is that there is a long dent about 5 inches where someone drag it across something dull like a belt buckle or whatever. It did not disrupt the paint, but just dented it in. Play real nice. I can't wait to change the strings and start playing it at home. The tone knob is push pull and can go from buckers to single coil.
