ESQUIRE Project progress

Well I've been drooling over this Esquire Pic for years:

Well I decided to build one using...OH NO...-my thinskin Tele-...Yep.
So I stripped the neck headstock and then the whole neck sealed and tinted. The white blonde was cut down with some 400 paper and air-brushed with amber lacquer to try to acheive the buttermilk-burst of the 1961 Esquire:

I'm pretty happy with the results so far.

In the first picture of the 1961 Esquire you can actually see the grain much like the grain on my 62' Thinskin. The amber was sprayed on enough to get the effect but retaining some of the grain to show through.

Oooh... Now THAT'S gorgeous...

I'm on a similar tack with my 60's Classic. It's being remodeled after this pic of a '59 Telecaster:

I'm keeping the neck but all the hardware, wiring, pickups are being upgraded and I have a new body coming from Tommy at USACG in a nitro vintage blonde... Tommy say's it should be ready late next week. Just in time for my birthday!! I can't wait!

Hey, that looks really cool. Please post your progress or finished project. I like your vision
I love to see how yours turns out, too.
