Tele crunch options?
You can tell from my name, I'm a drumma...
But I also play the tele... (s'cuze me maam, I'm strickly a rhythm player... ) My current tele stable includes a 76' deluxe a mid 90's protone thinline, ( with a 63 tele pup in the bridge ) and a built up frankentele with the innards of a 2000 amstd. I play thru a 68 bassman head, 2 x 12 cab while I like the direct tone of guitar-amp-cab I am looking for a little more crunch on some tunes.. Just a wee bit of overdrive or distorion would be nice.. Any suggestions on pedals, mabe a powersoak and drive the power tubes crazy ? Thanks to any and all.. Matt B |

THD HotPlate!
A HotPlate's the way to go with that Bassman, surely... you'll get loely warm power-tube overdrive as you open her up, but with the HotPlate they won't throw you out on the street as a noise-pollution hazard

crunch
I also play a tele sometimes through a 60's Bassman head, through a 2x10 cabinet, or 1x15. I also like playing straight into the amp and use no effects other than reverb and an occassional delay.
A while ago I got a BadBob made by a TDP'er here named Robbie Wallace. I really love this thing! Just a bit of grit and no coloration of the original tone, very transparent and with a true bypass. It can really drive the front end of your amp. There were a few threads here a while ago regarding them. Perhaps you could look them up. I'm sure your aware but this but I also jumper the channels which adds quite a bit to getting that big amp tone. |
