Bill and Becky Lawerence

Quite possibly the nicest folks at the show, on the internet and person:

I also have a nice photo of Becky and Bill together, but I dont have access too it right now: I'll post it later tonight.

Arlo is right, the nicest folks out there, and Bill is always at the ready to share his knowledge and passion with anyone. And to set there and listen to himm talk, and play, well, lets just say, I felt honored, and blessed to be around such good people.

And I'm gonna give ya a teaser too: Bill came out with a new single coil pup, that will knock all your socks off, and I am already planning on getting a couple. There working on the patent right now, but let me tell you, many of you will look at this pup, and the first thing you will say is, "NO WAY!" But trust me, it is awesome!

Uh, I'm that fat long haired slob standing next to Becky. Bill aint in the photo. Bill does in fact have a white beard, and is the Keystone pup man.

That other impersonator that appropriated Bill's good name? Well, I prefer not to talk about that scoundrel............

Yeah, Bill's knowledge is very much a deep well, and his understanding mathmatically, and theoretical comprehension is astounding. While I was there, he says, "Here, let me show you about the guitar pick-up.", and picks up some papaer and pen, and begins to draw a schematic, and after the very first line he draws, he lost me. It is SOOOOOO over my head what he is talking about, and it is obvious even to the casual observer, that this man is in fact a true genius.

But what made me feel real impotent in his presence, was him playing Segovia, Chopin, Paginini, Brams, all on a Tele. Wow!

Funny, he talks to me about classical players and how much he can feel their playing as much as hear them.
Like you, what he tells me about pickups etc. is way over my head but by god I'm beginning to learn. What a teacher !!

Becky gave me a bunch of cable and connectors.

Absolutely fantastic stuff, ridiculously easy to assemble the cable of the right widths. I've given away all my old cables.

Yeah, he doesn't really market them at all. It's like a secret. They are absolutely the best.

Here's a nice photo of Bill and Becky:

Now, I spoke about it, I got permission from Becky, and without further a-doo, here is the next generation of the single coil pick-up, and it will be kickin everybody arse, guaranteed:

Look at the size of the coil! And Bill says, its got a 1 Henry resistance, so it dont matter how long of a cable you throw on it, no degradation of your tone, no 60 cycle hum, hiss, fizz, nada!

And he's got one for the neck too:

This new design that Bill has is unbelievable. I am being totally objective, because hey, I dont want to be just blowing smoke, and hyping something that doesnt deserve it.

Bill played that pup, and it sounded sweet and twangy! Then to just show off, he sets right in front of the amp, less than 18 inches from the speaker, and he dimes the amp. You heard me, HE DIMED THE AMP! No noise. No hiss. Only thing you heard, was my jaw dropping on the ground! UN-BELIEVABLE!

I'll tell ya, I am all humbuckers on my guitars. I dont like 60 cycle hum. Drives me nuts. I'm puttin plans on the drawing board to build a reverse headstock, Billy Gibbons style Esquire, and that revolutionary pup of Bill's is the one going in it! It's gonna be a Mahogany body, mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard Monster-Esquire! I cant wait! Well, I have too, cause I gotta save up the money to build it.

To Bill and Becky: Thank you for your hospitality towards me, and for treating me like I am a life-long friend. You both are truly Class Acts, and second to none!

Yep, I've had them in my Tele for a couple of months now doing some evaluations for them. They are as quiet as you can get.

Becky told me the price that bill wants to release it for, but I wont repeat it here. Lets just say, it could cause a stampede at a Walmart 98% off sale!!!!!

There's even more about these pups that Bill was telling me about: Strong magnets that arent pulling on the strings, and no uncontrollable feedback. A new way of winding the pup, I mean, just incredible stuff!

Hey Scotland...Since you have had a chance to use these in a quiet environment, how are they? Do you think they will blow his previous iterations out of the water? Especially the Keystones, which got so much interest?
His Wilde/B.L. tele pups are the standard at my house and can't be beat for a real woodsy sweet tone. Awesome, and thanks for this exciting news!

Funny

Thanks for the heads up!

Now tell us that the tone is even more sweet than previous BL pup's!

I could have gone no problem. The issue was a case I am currently working on was waiting for a judicial order so we could proceed to review the original evidence. I could not take a chance on being in California if they decided to let us have access at that time. We were granted access three days after NAMM ended.

Next year.

Thats a great picture of Becky and Bill thanks for posting. Sure did miss seeing you all out there.

Gotcha thanks PC!

Been jonesin' for some keystones after having their Wilde pups. BL just keeps pushing it. Cool.

The Wilde pups sound so good, to me and my playing buddy, that I,m afraid of being further disappointed by other pups. Hard act to follow, IMHO. But what do I know?

Bill & Becky are the best in the buisness for sure. It's a shame that a lot of other big name companies have lost their small town attitude. We could use a lot more like BL.
