it's probably asked to much but..
.. does someone has a record (sample) of a MIM standard tele on his computer? I really would like to hear one. Clean or distorted, whatever, but regarding all the very good reviews on the net, such bang for the buck?? I know I should go to a music store and play one, but I live in the middle of nowhere and the first shop is 35 miles away and I don't have a car, station is 20 miles away so.. :)
tnx anyway |

here you go. I'm not sure this is the best clip out there, but it's not the guitars fault...

as far as sound goes the ones i have played sounded great, just like a tele should.
places where it lacked was stuff like fret ends, and the fit of the nut, controls had a tiny bit of slop.all minor stuff, easily fixed or even easy to just live with but soundwise i think it should be right in the ballpark with most any tele there are variations from tele to tele, so any one you order you sorta roll the dice on, havin not played it. some mim standards feel great and better than a more expensive model where it just didnt come out just right. i think feel might have to do with weight and balance mostly, which is determined by the specific wood you get on the neck and body of yours. some just sit in your lap or on a strap just right.. and probably the resonance of the particular piece of body wood. from a sound sample i think anyone would be hard pressed to tell a made in mexico from an american deluxe( hehe altho i wouldnt be surprised if someone around here claims they can:P), except for the lack of 60 cycle hum on the noiseless pickups good luck :) p.s. i am watchin that video.. hehe at first when he started playin i cringed... but then i was like hmm... the tele does sound pretty ok. here is this inexperienced player playin thru some crappy amp, crappy recording, and it sounded pretty good! :P that's a made in mexico? hard to tell from the video |

thanks
okay thank you so much for the samples.
here's another one: http://www.musicianshop.com/tv/fender_telecaster_mw.wmv it sounds pretty good IMHO, but is it the player's fault that it (the song he plays) sounds kinda messy? and further, don't you think this Commodore SG-type guitar sounds amazing for the price (and not only for the price..)? http://www.musicianshop.com/tv/commodore_sg.wmv http://www.musicianshop.com/mp3/com_s.mp3 c ya |

Conspicuously avoiding any comments directed at the guy demoing the guitars:
More online guitar shops should do something like this. Not as good as try before you buy, but better than looking at a grainy stock photo that may or may not look anything like the guitar, and trying to figure out what it will sound like by deciphering 100 variations of the meaningless words "vintage" "toneful" and "really nails XXXX tone!!!!!" |
