Sounds great. I hope you don't get slapped with any import duty or taxes!

Nah thanks to a free trade agreement between our two semi great nations, anything under $1000 is free of duty and extra taxes. Oh.. unless that only USA made instruments.... _crosses fingers_

Excellent! With savings like that then, I can't imagine why anyone would buy in the Aussie shops.

Well, my CV50 has changed quite a bit in the last month. It's now an Esquire wired cocked-wah/tone-vol/vol. I stuck a SD BG-1400 in there and the guitar is stupid awesome now for classic rock. CTS 250k pots, CRL switch and Vitamin caps (.047 and .01).

I also did get around to rolling the fretboard edges, and now it plays even better than before.

I kept the stock pickups, though, since they sound great and I might decide to go back to them at some point.

Here's a pic:

Do you mean ashtray cover? I think they all fit. It is made of thin metal. So you can adjust the ahstray cover by squeezing or streching it to suit you (ashtray) bridge if necessary.

Yeah, the cover. I found one, a "Fender Vintage Bridge Cover" and I think I`ll buy it now:-)

Btw, I search for a thin, 1ply pickguard in white with 5 holes. Are there any that would fit perfect on a CV without drilling new holes?

I have just found this thread and enjoyed reading through it all.
An earlier poster mentioned the sitar effect on his, which took my interest'
I have noticed this effect on all of 12 guitars to some extent, but have never read anything mentioned before.
Most people say fret buzz, nut rattle, but never saddle buzz.
Is this a common issue, or is it just me and my old hearing exaggerating the effect.

I have just ordered some brass compensated saddles to replace the steel threaded saddles on my CV Custom.
Just to see what it is like, I have also ordered an 'ashtray'.

The Stewmac ashtray bridge cover fits well but has rough bottom edges. Take off the sharp bits with a file and then rub it on fine emory paper flat on a tabletop or you will relic the top of your tele fast like I did.

Esquiered CV50 VB

Hello,

Here's a picture of my CV50 cocked wah wiring using the original "economy" switch of CV50. All the diagrams I found was using the "original" (CLR, Oak Grigsby & Fender) type switch so I had to figure out terminal conversion chart (from left to right):

Economy: A1 A2 A3 A0 B0 B1 B2 B3
Standard: B0 A1 B1 A2 B2 A3 B3 A0

My Esquire wiring (switch position):

Pos1: VOL
Pos2: VOL+TONE
Pos3: Cocked Wah

I already bought a standard switch, but what's not broken don't fix it. Before the conversion I measured resistance of the bridge pick-up. My ohm meter showed "infinite" resistance. I thought my (original) bridge was also DOA. But when I tried it it was working OK. Resistance and impedance must be different things.

Wanted to put vintage style locking tuners on mine but can't seem to find any that fit the 8mm hole on the CV's. The only people who did it in this thread reamed or drilled out the holes.......I'll keep looking but if anyone has swapped out theirs I'd appreciate knowing what you used.

I left my CV 50s stock - except for the strings, which I changed to 10s. The stock pickups sound great, and the action is spot on. My theory is, if it felt good in the store, why fix something if it isn't broken?

Thanks,

I put a white three ply guard on mine as well. Warmoth did a great job. I love how the CV went from white/blonde to yellow/blonde. The only Mod I plan on doing to it. Sounds excellent with flatwounds!

Before-

After-

I do this to nearly all my teles, if applicable :

I replaced the saddles with compensated bridge saddles.
I added a humbucker in the neck position, new black pickguard to fit.
I added a TBX control for the tone pot, thanks phostenix
I sanded all the polycoat off the neck
I sandwiched paper inside the top hat switch so it doesn't fall off
I shielded and re-grounded the pickup cavity
I refiled the nut a little
