I'm keeping the stock pickups on my CV but if anyone wants more clarity out of the neck pickup I've found that the Tonerider Vintage Plus works great with the stock Hot Classic bridge. Middle position sounds great also.

The bad news is the CV necks are a little thinner than standard which means the neck pocket on the CV body isn't as deep as normal. I was using a squier 51 neck and I had to sand it down about 2 or 3/64" of an inch to get a decent setup. When I first installed it, I couldn't get the action over 2/64" before running out of room on the saddle screws. I measured the necks on both my CV tele and CV strat, and they're a little thinner at the base than a standard neck. I measured a USA tele neck and the squier 51 neck and they were both thicker than the CV necks. So, what that means for you, is that the CV neck will sit low in the pocket on a standard tele body. It might make for some super sweet low action, and you'll need to lower the pickups,... or you might have to shim the neck up a little.
Thank you so much for all that key info !
I'll report back as soon as I try to install the neck.

But so far... the neck is not with me. I bought it from a TDPRI member who shipped it time ago but no news, no neck ...

Won't AllParts ship to Canada? They have white, black and parchment 5-hole
guards and they're nice and fit well. You could always go to Warmoth - they've done a couple for me that worked well.

pickguard hole mismatch

I swapped the white guard from my MiJ 50's Fender Tele into the CV and the holes don't quite line up.
ps:the black CV guard on the Fender looks great and, guess what, the holes don't line up either(actually only one is off on both)

hi again, the dealers i've asked in toronto said they couldn't get a 5
hole from allparts?! so, i went ahead and ordered one today, myself, i've seen a lot of people on you tube who said they swapped the black one with a white 1 ply from all parts.. shipping is more than the guard.. but, i love the look! is this as simple as changing the guard on my j bass? or will i need to wire in the p. up???i'm a novice.. so, any help you can provide in my cv transformation is appreciated!!!!thanks all for the advice/ opinions!!!!

There's no rewiring of the pickup required.
should be an easy swap if the holes line up alright.

I dropped a P90 in the neck.
I've stripped the the body of paint and poly, then stained BSB, and tru-oiled.
Reshielded the cavities with metal-paper.
Ordered a fat/chunky from Muiskraft neck. Stained and tru-oiled.
Got Fender/Schaller locking tuners,Glendale cutting edge saddles.
Still need to get a 4-way pre-wired.. almost there

More info of this process here:

Ok, I got this guitar to kind of teach myself some basic guitar setup/wiring stuff... However, I am stuck on my first mod!!! ahhh... I put a switchcraft jack in (first time soldering) and it works, plugged it in and it sounds great I guess... But I can't get the electrosocket cup to fit in nicely... its way off in the hole.

Am I missing something, how did you guys get them to line in straight?

I have a top-loading wilkinson bridge coming soon. Tone/feel change report (if any) soon.

Hi five! back before Christmas I got a CV to learn "guitar-guts 101" myself.

No regrets here. Now I'm assembling my first partscaster....

I think you mean how did we get the lip of the socket flush or "neat" with the curve of the body? I had no troubles.... but i snipped off the CV cheezy jack and used a longer switchcraft stereo jack.

No problems with mine...did you maybe not realize you need to remove the stock "retaining clip" from the guitar? If you can post a pic of what's going on I'm sure someone will be able to help.

hmmm... so i'm supposed to remove that little clip in there? that would probably fix it... can someone confirm before I go ripping it out.

Would that mean I wouldnt need to use the washer or nut either?

You can use washers and/or the nut screwed all the way onto the jack before screwing it into the electrosocket to adjust how far you want it to stick out, I have mine more or less flush so the cup "guides" the jack into the socket.

Thinking about getting one too, but don't like the standard colour combo especially. So was thinking changing the pickgaurd to either white, mint green or tortoiseshell but also have seen an 'aged' white listed as well... Oh, and then there is Pearl white....!

So has anyone else got any ideas / and or pics of other tele liveries??
