Fender Esprit standard any opinions.

I am a confirmed Tele man but was suprised to find a black Esprit in my local guitar shop in Liverpool - and even more suprised that I liked it enough to buy for approx 800 dollars.
Has anybody got an opinion on this guitar or any information.

I believe Fender used the Espirit as the basis for the now discontinued Robben Ford signature model.
