Anyone looking for a '58 Tele?
I always check my local papers online for gear. No affiliations here whatsoever, but this was in the Huntsville area paper.... PM me if really interested and I'll send the number.
And Geir, there is a double bound blue sparkle in there... ***AD TEXT*** 1958 Telecaster, lots of history below to Redd Volkheart, reasonable offer. Custom Telecaster blue metal flake with double white binding $600.

'58s are my favorite Teles, but...
I don't know that I'd care for one with a blue sparkle finish and double binding. Not that I don't like blue sparkle finishes or binding; I certainly love 'em both. But, to me, late '54 to early maple-necked '59 Teles should always have that cool, creamy blonde finish. JMHO. :)

Hey Joel
Well, he doesn't actually say what the finish is on the '58 or how much he'd take for it. The blue one is a different, Custom Shop guitar he's asking 600 for. He also had an amp and some acoustics in the ad, but I left them out.
I'd like to drive the 2 hours just to play it a little...

Mike, I'd gladly drive four hours just to look at it!
By the way, whew--I thought by your earlier post that the '58 had the binding and the blue sparkle finish: my mistake. I should take the time to read more carefully.
I don't know what it is about the '58s that I love so much; I know it flies in the face of most everyone here (who favor the early '50s Teles), but I just love 'em dearly, and have yet to play one that I didn't love. One day--one day, someday--with a lot of work and saving, I will have a '57 or '58--AND THEN I SHALL RULE THE WORLD! BWWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Joel |

Those were both mine!
The 58' is a refined "pepto biz" pink with black binding. I had the binding installed in 89' by "Rose Guitar Co" in Hendersonville Tn., now long gone, but the neck is original, the pickups, I can't remember.
The blue sparkle one is a custom (made in Ca) alder body (medium heavy) dark blue with white binding, third pickup route, an after market neck, but still a great playin' axe! When I had it, it was like an Esquire with a Strat pickup in the middle, and no neck pickup, with a 3 way switch, pretty different sounding, but FUN!! I don't know the prices he wants, but they're both good guitars, I wouldn't have sold them but that fella worked on me for 4 yrs until, well you know ... |
