OK Tele geniuses: need specs on 2002 MIM standard tele

My bro just bought one. Thought I'd give him the low down on it.

Anyone have specs in an archive or anything?

Mainly curious about the pickups, neck profile, etc. Anything else that might be good to know.

TIA.

You can download manuals, specs, setup guides etc directly from Fender on this link.

Pengipete: thanks for the quick reply and the link. Yeah, I checked there, but didn't see specs for 2002.

I just know they've changed a lot over the years (different pickups, different neck setup, etc.). So I was curious to know about the 2002 specifically. That way, if he likes or dislikes something specific, it'll be easy to know why.

I can determine the neck specs when he gets to town (I have neck profilers), but the pickups are a different story.

Just curious, that's all.

The catalog says " 2 Std. Tele S-C ".

It was Fender's low end model. Don't expect anything special.

Sweet.

Is the body wood alder or poplar in 2002?

I'm gonna guess 9.5-inch neck radius, medium-jumbo frets.

It's white (arctic white)?

The other thing I wanna find out (sooner or later) is whether the bridge is swappable for a vintage-style three-barrel bridge, or if the mounting holes are different.

Its Alder if a solid color if its a Sunburst model its veneered. Ceramic magnet pickups 9.5 radius regular sized frets they went jumbo in 2006. Other than that some color changes.

I have one from 2002 or 2003 -

If I remember right from my years of reading posts here...

- The wood could be either as they switched back and forth from time to time back then

- 9.5" radius, vintage frets

- the pickups are alnico

- vintage bridge should fit

Hmmm....ceramic or alnico pups?

Besides that, every question I had answered in no-time-flat, at nearly midnight! This is what this is the greatest forum on the 'net.

Well, no complaints so far. I got the guitar and a Vox AD15VT for a grand total of $300 which I think is a steal. The guitar seems like it's barely been played and could have come off a wall rack in a store, and the amp is less than 6 months old.

If you click the button above the typing area and paste the image address into the box that opens, the picture will appear in your post.

Ah thanks. Also if any of you know of an easy way to get a permanent marker autograph out of the finish, I'm all ears.
