Soon to join the Tele club :)

After playing a bunch of Teles of various pedigree (and confined with a limited budget) I found a nice Brown Sunburst MIM Std. at a local shop. Nice and resonant, great neck, and that Tele twang...I had my heart set on a black one at the new GC near Milwaukee, but this one spoke to me even more, so I put $$ on it. Can't wait to pick this one up...I've always wanted a Telecaster and a Stratocaster, and now the Tele part is almost fulfilled. :) Of course, I don't see any way I'll be able to stop at just one Tele...what a great guitar!

I still want a Strat (most likely an MIM Std. that I can modifry to my heart's content) but there's something about the Telecaster. I hadn't really played them much until recently, and was floored by the tone and feel. I always liked them as a guitarist I used to play bass and organ with had a few, and I'm a big fan of Steve Cropper (and Booker T and Duck hee hee!) but never realized how darned *right* a Tele feels. I'm hooked.

A bit about me since I'm barging in green here...I live near Madison WI and play keyboards and guitar in a local rock band called Crush (www.crush-band.com). Been playing guitar since I was 7, bass since 15, and Hammond/keys since 18...I'm 33 now.

Welcome B3Nut

That tele will be a friend for life.

Next time you're at Good & Loud, see if they
have a Tone King Meteor with EL84's. If you could give it
a test ride & post a report. I'd be grateful.
It looks ideal on paper.

I'll see if they have that amp next time I go down there, I'll give it a whirl if I see it and report back.

I'm so pleased with my antique white MIM Telecaster. I kick myself constantly for not having one twenty-five years ago (a Telecaster of any sort), Oh well! better late than never.

What my guitar has done is to re-inforce the notion that, when I can swing it, I will certainly be going to a higher-level of Telecaster-izm with a 'classic' 52' RI, which is something of a dream guitar for me.

It' the first guitar I've owned that just seems to be so much more than the sum of it's parts, somehow. There's just something intangible about the Telecaster that's hard to explain.

I'm not a 'worshipper' of objects, or overly romantic about anything either, so I'm sometimes a little uncomfortable with my attraction to this instrument, but I can't deny that it exists. Just good, good stuff.

Hope you like you're gittar as much as I do mine.

Thanks B3Nut

I pass through Madison occasionally.
It would let me know if a side trip is in order.

You know you picked the right guitar because it "spoke" to you.
The most important quality.
