76 tele in mexican music shop
Hello one and all; I'm a new member and have been enjoying all the insights and stories that come out on this forum. So heres my story.. I've been looking at this tele, in a music store here in Puerto Vallarta, for about three years.
A few days ago I made the trade. The store owner cleaned it up a bit, but the photo's show the guitar as I received it, a little tropical fuzz had set in, but the instrument was in good shape. The serial # is S836760 and that # is also on the inside of the pick guard, on the horn. This guitar plays great, new strings alittle TLC on the set up, haven't put it down days. My other guitar is a 62 reissue I'm told, from 1984. I'll post some picks of it later. Right now this is my pride and joy.. Thanks all D. Harris |

She's absolutely a sweet guitar! I love the "Fuller-tan". Gotta say I'd date it '78 or slightly later judging by the routing at the neck by the truss rod and the serial #. What are the pots dated?
You definitely got the better end of the trade deal in my opinion. Congrats! Oh yeah, there should be a date on the bottom of the bridge pickup but you'll have to separate the base plate to see it. If you don't care that much you might want to skip doing that. |

Thanks for the compliments. . yes it has steel saddles and the guitar seems light compared to a 62 reissue I own. I cleaned it up a bit when I popped off the pick guard but did not think of going farther into it. I'm happy to accept any date you guys think is correct and of course I'm not going to change anything on this guitar. However the tone pot is shot. It goes from wooley in the 1st 1/4 turn to instant ice pick with not much variation in the remaining 3/4 of rotation, any suggestions. .
